For Spring Break this year, we traveled to the Orlando area to visit our friends, the Carnathans.  We stayed a whole week, and had a lot of fun.  While we were there, we celebrated Noah's 5th birthday with a family cookout.  There was plenty of entertainment for the kids in the country.  The boys picked oranges from the trees in the backyard.  They climbed trees, ate picnic lunches and chocolate chip cookies, pretended to be firemen, went on trailer rides, and played wildly with big sticks like they were swords and guns.  James experienced a few firsts: we took a trip to Sea World, and then spent a few days in Ormond Beach.  Weston became hooked on DVD episodes of Flipper that the Blairs had in their beach house.  We all left there wanting to move to Florida, so we could enjoy warm weather and our sweet friends year round.

During the first week of March, Mimi and Grandy took Weston and Connor to their first Mardi Gras at Orange Beach.  The boys had a blast!  Our house was eerily quiet for five whole days.  James got some good quality time with both parents.  Weston and Connor went to the zoo, played putt putt, rode rides, ate ice cream, and went to several parades.  Connor got a hole in one on the golf course.  The boys brought home a collection of beads, stuffed animals, and moon pies.  Now, Weston's new favorite food is "fried shrimp from the Doc's".  He is still talking about it.  The boys' favorite memory from the trip was when a goose from the Gulf Shores Zoo poked his head through his pen and bit Mimi on the knee!  They thought that was so funny.  Poor Mimi!

In February, Weston celebrated 100 days of Kindergarten.  Each kindergartener had to do a project using 100 items.  We made "Kindergarten Bait" using gummy worms and crushed Oreo cookies.  It became a family project, because Connor wanted to participate.  We counted out the worms, in tally mark fashion, on a cookie sheet.  For the 100th day, Weston and his class dressed as if they were 100.  I sprayed his hair gray and got some small glasses.  He borrowed a cane that was my great-granddad's.  He also borrowed Will's suspenders from his Air Force "mess dress" uniform.  One of his teachers, Mrs. Kathy Ferris, was dressed up and walking around complaining about her "Osteoferocious"!  It was so funny.  Will was able to stop by the class before heading to work.  It was a great day and such a fun memory for our little Weston.
